Description

Greater suction power than bulb and battery-powered nasal aspirators. Because you generate the suction. The aspirator design and patented tissue filtration system absolutely protect you from contact with mucus and germs.

How does the BabyComfyNose Nasal Aspirator Work?
The BabyComfyNose uses your own suction to remove your baby’s nasal mucus. Mucus is suctioned into the receptacle body and is isolated there. Use a wadded tissue in the body of the aspirator as a super absorbent filter. Laboratory testing has demonstrated that healthy human lungs can generate 5-10 times as much suction power as commercially available bulb or battery-powered nasal aspirators: this is why human suction aspirators are so effective. The design of the BabyComfyNose eliminates any possibility of oral contact with mucus and germs.

Will I catch my baby’s cold from the BabyComfyNose?
This is a common concern and the answer is…no. It is important to understand that viruses and germs are only contained within liquid droplets, and do not float freely in the air itself. So, the term ‘airborne transmission’ is a little misleading. As long as liquid droplets are isolated, no transmission can occur. Laboratory testing has demonstrated that due to the aspirator design, liquid and mucus droplets containing germs that are suctioned out of your baby’s nose remain at the bottom of the receptacle or are caught in the tissue filter. No liquid droplets will be sucked up into the suction tube to your mouth.

The BabyComfyNose protects you in two ways from your baby’s cold: Firstly, because the body is wider (like an egg in the middle), air velocity is reduced in the center of the receptacle. This creates a ‘break’, where air flow is insufficient to pull liquid droplets up to the suction tube. This effect has been confirmed by independent testing. The second way that the design protects you is that lightly-wadded tissue inserted into the body of the unit functions as an excellent, cost-effective, and disposable filter.

Why is the BabyComfyNose baby aspirator better than bulbs or battery-operated aspirators?
It has been demonstrated by laboratory testing that healthy human lungs can generate 5-10 times as much suction power as commercially available bulb or battery-powered nasal aspirators.
Bulb or syringe aspirators require several cycles of squeezing the bulb, insertion into the baby’s nose and releasing the bulb. Not only is this difficult to do and can actually cause injury to the child, but bulb aspirators do not generate enough suction to clear your baby’s stuffy nose baby congestion and therefore are not very effective. Battery operated devices also typically do not generate enough suction to be effective. With the BabyComfyNose you can generate greater and more continuous suction. And since you are the one generating suction rather than a bulb or a motor, you will know just how much suction is required. The BabyComfyNose baby nasal aspirator really works!

For what ages is the BabyComfyNose appropriate?
From brand newborn until your child learns how to blow their own nose. And even after that, when baby or child is congested.

How do I wash the BabyComfyNose?
Fully disassemble and place in the dishwasher or use warm soapy water. The BabyComfyNose is dishwasher safe.

Why is tissue better than foam rubber as a Filter? We have seen similar products with a foam rubber filter and it’s important to point out why cellulose tissue (regular household tissue) is a more effective and safer filter.
1) The pore size of standard ‘Kleenex’ type tissue is around 1/10,000 of an inch. The pore size of standard open cell foam rubber is in the range of 1/500 inch. Tissue pores are approximately 20 times smaller than foam rubber and therefore are more effective as filter membranes.
2) An important criterion of filtration is the absorption properties of the material. Foam rubber is a plastic, so on the molecular level has a relatively small surface area for absorption. Tissue is cellulose, a natural material and has vastly greater molecular surface area than plastic. Think of how well paper toweling absorbs water as opposed to plastic. The same principle applies here.

General Information & Tips
The BabyComfyNose is BPA and Phthalate free. Made in USA. Dishwasher Safe.

* Use ‘cheek suction’ in short, repeated breaths.
* If suction seems blocked, gently rotate the aspirator tip in the baby’s nose.
* The flexible tubing is designed to fit tightly to the mouth piece. This is intentional as it is not necessary to remove the mouth piece in order to clean it or the tubing. Leaving the tubing attached to the mouth piece reduces the likelihood that the small mouth piece will be lost.
* Use of saline solution may be helpful to loosen nasal mucus.
* Hold the mouth piece between your lips to free your hands when positioning your child.

Rating Was Hesitant to Order, but LOVE!
The idea of manually sucking out boogies really freaked me out. My tiny one had a cold and I couldn't do much to help him with a bulb syringe. The video offered some comfort and the reasonable price tag sold me on it. It was love at first use with this product. My baby was more squirmy and not as cooperative as the one shown, but this still worked wonders for us. The yuck factor wasn't as bad as I had feared.
